Job Description

The compensation range for this position is between $68,900.00 and $76,502.40.
Position Summary:
As the Structural Engineer on the team, you will support the design and construction of electrical substations, greenfield stations, battery storage stations, transmission lines, and other electrical infrastructure. You will report directly to Operational Leadership within the region. The work supports the maintenance and upgrade of the nation's electrical grid system to accommodate the increase in electrical generation and load demand.
Essential Functions:
You will be responsible for projects from the proposal development to execution of engineering designs, to construction support for structural aspects of electrical infrastructure projects. Under supervision of a senior structural engineer, complete structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for the design of supporting structures and foundations for substation equipment, transmission line structures and other energy infrastructure. Support structural efforts on engineering services and EPC projects. Ensure that a complete design package (drawings, bill of materials, construction specifications, etc.) is delivered to the client within budget and on time with a high level of quality. Collaborate, communicate, and liaise effectively with other design disciplines, colleagues, construction contractors, consultants, materials suppliers, and clients. Assure all designs meet local, state, and federal regulations, as well as any client specifications at all phases of the project. Perform reviews of existing facilities to propose upgrades and replacements and present findings and recommendations to clients and peers. As-built and project closeout support. Visit sites, advise on engineering issues, and modify design to solve issues during construction. Regular attendance is required
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with completion of coursework in steel and concrete design (Masters preferred) from an Accredited Institution. 0-2 years of electrical utility design experience with evidence of increasing responsibility. Experience writing and providing support documentation for structural engineering calculations. Familiarity with the practical application of structural engineering including analysis for structural supports, loads, and design integrity for utility electrical substation, energy, renewables, or transmission line projects. Familiarity with
IBC, ASCE
7, AISC, and ACI 318.
Familiarity with the following programs:
MathCad
STAAD PRO
/ Risa 3D Tedds LPile FAD Tools SP Mats AutoCAD / Microstation MS Office Applications Excellent problem solving and communication skills including presentation and technical writing. The candidate must also work well individually and as part of a team that includes the clients, subcontractors, outside agencies, and our UGS project personnel.
