Bridge Construction West Haven, CT Position Summary:
We are partnering with a nationally recognized, award-winning heavy civil contractor known for delivering complex infrastructure projects across highways, bridges, rail, and transit systems. This family-owned organization has built a strong reputation for safety, quality, and on-time project delivery. With a collaborative, team-driven culture and a strong backlog of public infrastructure work, the company continues to invest heavily in its people, equipment, and technology while maintaining long-term stability and growth. We are seeking a Project Engineer/Sr. Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of complex, multi-million-dollar heavy civil and bridge projects in the West Haven, CT area.
Key Responsibilities:
Support project execution from preconstruction through closeout on large-scale heavy civil and bridge projects Promote and uphold a safety-first culture in all aspects of the project Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, including CPM scheduling and updates Support budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and resource planning (labor, equipment, materials) Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, and as-built drawings Coordinate with field teams, superintendents, subcontractors, and project stakeholders Assist with subcontractor procurement, buyout, and management Track production quantities, cost coding, and daily reporting Provide technical support including plan interpretation and construction methods Support quality control, inspections, and project closeout
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, with bridge/highway project experience preferred Experience working on CDOT projects strongly preferred Strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, and cost control Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam (HCSS, Vista, P6, or CAD a plus) Valid driver's license and ability to work in field-based environments
