Job Description
Summary:
Project Engineer:
Pre-construction project work including scheduling, buy-out, procurement & submittals. Project Engineer to provide technical support to MCC field staff during construction. Prepare, submit & track shop drawings, track change orders and extra work. Assist in Project Scheduling and coordination. Assist in drafting or responding to Project correspondence. Coordination of various technical specifications including bridge components (structural steel, precast concrete members, Cast in Place Concrete, & Concrete Reinforcement) Essential duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:- Responsible for preparing and maintaining project documents, excel logs, and providing technical support to the Superintendent and Project Manager
- Receives, reviews, and submits shop drawings
- Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records including clear and concise daily reports
- Addresses relevant correspondence with DOT, subcontractors, and suppliers and reviews with the Project Manager
- Provides technical review of work in the field to specification requirements
- Advises Project Manager of any potential change orders, extra work, or claims
- Tracks labor, equipment, and material associated with potential change orders and extra work
- Coordinates and monitors long lead items that are critical to the schedule
- Provides, as necessary, continued reevaluations of means and methods
- Directs oversight of technical drawings for structural steel, concrete work, rebar
- Monitors costs of each job by reviewing approved and coded invoices
- Quality control ensuring compliance with plans and specifications
- Receives, reviews, forwards, and tracks the status of submittals (Compass)
- Inspects subcontractor operations to ensure compliance with contracts and determines non-compliance where applicable
- Updates construction schedule based on project team input, subcontractor progress and materials delivery
- Utilizes technology to track costs, budgets, quantities, CO's, RFI's, and scheduling
- Visits jobs site as necessary
- Schedules and attends applicable project and operation meetings
- Sets up field office, yard, storage, etc.
- Assist with or complete special projects independently or as part of a team
