Job Description
A leading engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Geophysical Professional to support and help lead our growing Geotechnical/Geophysical Group in NOVA or Maryland. This role is ideal for a motivated technical specialist who enjoys diverse project work, cross‑department collaboration, and direct client engagement.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & Project SupportLead and support the firm's Geotechnical/Geophysical Group.
Develop cost‑effective geotechnical and geophysical investigation programs tailored to site conditions and project needs, often working alongside company Principals.
Conduct, review, and interpret geotechnical/geophysical analyses and collected data.
Provide technical support to project managers and participate in regular project progress meetings.
Documentation & ReportingPrepare field reports, internal technical correspondence, and comprehensive engineering/geophysical reports.
Develop technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, specifications, and daily project communications.
Interdepartmental CollaborationParticipate in Construction Materials Testing (CMT) projects, Geotechnical Engineering assignments, and occasional Environmental consulting tasks involving geophysics.
Contribute to maintaining technical excellence across service offerings.
Client Relationship ManagementEnhance client satisfaction by delivering high‑quality work and maintaining proactive, professional communication.
Build long-term client relationships based on trust, expertise, and service excellence.
Safety & QualityEnsure all work adheres to company safety protocols and site-specific safety standards.
Uphold strict quality and integrity standards in all technical outputs.
QualificationsEducation & ExperienceB.S. in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or Geophysics (M.S. preferred).Minimum 5 years of professional experience post-graduation.
P.E. or P.G. license is preferred(other relevant qualifications may be considered).Technical CompetenciesExperience with some (not necessarily all) of the following geophysical methods:
Seismic RefractionElectrical Resistivity Imaging (ERI)Multi-Channel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW)Electromagnetic (EM) TestingMicro-Gravity (MG) TestingGround Penetrating Radar (GPR)Experience with subsurface characterization in Karst (sinkhole-prone) terrain is strongly preferred.
Additional RequirementsStrong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with standard software tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD, etc.).Valid driver's license.
Willingness to travel, including short out‑of‑town assignments; a passport is preferred for work supporting Caribbean operations.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and traverse rugged terrain during fieldwork.
