$72,000 to $110,000. This is based on previous work experience, skills, and current certifications / professional licenses. Job Purpose for the
Field Project Engineer :
Project (on-site) survey and engineering related support, data collection, measurement/stake-out, analysis and technical document preparation/review. Such projects include, but are not limited to maintenance dredging, new dredging, dredge material management area (DMMA) maintenance/construction, beach re-nourishment, rip-rap revetments, slope stabilization, stormwater retention/detention pond maintenance, water control structure installation/maintenance, marina maintenance, etc. Working directly with operations engineering department and management to set and meet client's schedule, goals and objectives. Working directly with operations engineering department and management to resolve technical conflicts that arise during projects. Key Responsibilities for the
Field Project Engineer:
Collection, managing and controlling information related to engineering and surveying on assigned project site or site(s). Provide technical recommendations to onsite staff and management to set and meet the client's schedule, goals, and objectives.
HYPACK/DREDGEPACK
hardware/software installation, coordination, calibration, and over-sight to mechanical and hydraulic dredge operations. Performing and/or overseeing pre-, progress and post-dredge surveys. Survey/Operations Engineering equipment management/repair/maintenance on project site. Survey/Operations Engineering equipment inventory/replacement/acquisition on project site. Pre-Bid Meeting attendance and initial project evaluations. Assisting with pre-construction submittals preparation. On-going construction submittal preparation and assistance. Evaluating and providing recommendations for alternative equipment, materials, and/or construction methods. Analyzing data to resolve technical conflicts during construction projects. Training sub-professional, technical, and clerical personnel, as required. Performing related work as required. Desired Knowledges, Abilities and Skills for the
Field Project Engineer:
Knowledge of principles and practices of the assigned area of engineering and marine (hydrographic & topographic) surveying. Knowledge of developments and information in assigned field of engineering and surveying. Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications. Ability to develop skill in the use and care of engineering and surveying tools. Ability to learn to plan, design, and review the work of others. 2 years' experience using AutoCAD and HYPACK software. Must be proficient in use of a PC and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to operate or learn how to operate hand-held GPS RTK rover (survey grade GPS). Ability to operate survey and work vessels up to 25' in length. Ability to drive standard sized vehicular truck and trailer/launch vessel. Strong written and verbal communication skills Able to work independently and interact professionally with managers, team leaders and staff. Able to prepare and submit clear, concise reports orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and the general public. Field Project Engineer:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in geomatics or engineering, preferably related to the area of assignment is preferred. Similar degree fields (i.e. construction management) may be considered when coupled with relevant experience. Ability to travel both short and long-term (job assignment related travel).
USACE CQM
Certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment. OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR and Blood Borne Pathogen certifications or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. A minimum of 2 years' of experience in marine construction / dredging. Must be able to work outside for entire shift in all weather conditions (hot, humid, cold, wet). Must be able to travel.
