Job Description

Senior Geotechnical Engineering Leader Tallahassee, FL A nationally recognized multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced geotechnical professional to lead and grow an established geotechnical practice in North Florida. This is a leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical excellence, project oversight, team development, and client engagement. The successful candidate will inherit an existing team and play a key role in expanding the group's capabilities and market presence over the coming years. The practice supports a diverse portfolio of transportation, infrastructure, and commercial projects throughout the Florida Panhandle, including major roadway, bridge, and public-sector programs. Key Responsibilities Lead a team of geotechnical professionals and support staff Oversee project execution, quality, risk management, and technical delivery Review geotechnical analyses and design work, including settlement evaluations and foundation-related recommendations Support hiring, mentoring, and development of junior engineering staff Manage project financial performance, staffing utilization, and client satisfaction Assist with proposals, project pursuits, and relationship management Work closely with office leadership to support long-term business planning and strategic growth Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license required Approximately 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience Strong background in transportation and infrastructure projects Experience managing projects, budgets, schedules, and technical teams Ability to review and guide the work of junior engineers Strong communication and client-facing skills Experience with DOT-related geotechnical projects is highly preferred What Makes This Opportunity Different Established team already in place with plans for continued growth Leadership role with significant influence over hiring, operations, and department direction Nationally recognized employee-owned organization with long-term stability Strong pipeline of transportation and infrastructure work Opportunity to remain technically involved while expanding leadership responsibilities Competitive compensation package with ownership participation and long-term career growth potential Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
