Building Automation System (BAS) Project Engineer

Description Join our team as a Building Automation Project Engineer supporting projects throughout the West Palm Beach area and play a key role in expanding our presence in a growing market. This is a unique opportunity to work independently in a field-based role while helping support and shape operations in the region. You will be responsible for the design, programming, and integration of building automation systems across large-scale commercial projects, including hospitals and other complex facilities. This role involves working with HVAC, lighting, energy management, and security systems to deliver high-performance, fully integrated building solutions. You will collaborate closely with field technicians, project managers, clients, and operations leadership to ensure systems are properly engineered, programmed, and commissioned for optimal performance. This position is primarily remote and field-based, supporting projects throughout the West Palm Beach and surrounding areas, with periodic travel to our Sunrise office as needed and in alignment with the Operations Manager. Key Responsibilities Design and engineer building automation systems based on project requirements, including control strategies, system architecture, and sequence of operations Develop and integrate HVAC, lighting, security, and energy management systems using Distech Controls and Niagara (Tridium) platforms Create detailed control drawings, system schematics, wiring diagrams, points lists, and functional sequences Program and configure controllers, supervisory controllers, and networked BAS devices within Distech and Niagara environments Develop system graphics, logic, and control programming that accurately reflects design intent and project requirements Support system startup, testing, troubleshooting, and final commissioning in coordination with field technicians and project teams Provide advanced technical support during installation and commissioning to ensure system performance, integration, and reliability Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications Stay current with emerging BAS technologies, including evolving capabilities within Niagara and Distech ecosystems Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Experience with building automation systems (Niagara, Distech, ACAD preferred) Knowledge of protocols like BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks Strong understanding of HVAC, lighting, energy, and security systems Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills Degree in engineering or relevant field, or equivalent experience Willingness to travel to client sites as needed Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, and reach as needed. Ability to walk active job sites, including climbing stairs and ladders and navigating uneven surfaces. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
