Civil Engineer Norcross, GA 30071 $74,959.09 - $90,273.30 a year - Full-time $74,959.09 - $90,273.30 a year - Full-time Full job description We are seeking an entry-mid level civil engineer to join the team in our Atlanta headquarters. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and team-oriented, willing to continuously develop technical knowledge in all subject matter. This team member will provide exceptional civil site, structural, water resources and/or environmental designs for public and private projects throughout the southeast. This position offers career development and has the potential for future growth within the company. This person will perform project design duties with a team to develop detailed design documents for construction projects. The ideal candidate will complement the current team by providing additional detailed engineering and construction experience. Engagements may include distribution or transmission utilities, commercial or industrial facilities, data centers, and power plants both conventional and renewable. Responsibilities Work closely and coordinate with a multidiscipline team of professional and technical staff Assist in the technical designs of projects for the team Perform planning phase activities, including project research, assessment of project feasibility, and provide input to project team on civil engineering related issues Perform and assist with all aspects of civil engineering design including layout/geometry, grading, drainage, paving, and erosion control. Projects may include full civil site design for electrical substations, hydrology/hydraulic storm water modeling, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, and preparation of construction plans and related design reports Interpret geotechnical reports and soil profiles for both civil site design and foundation designs Structural analysis using finite element analysis software (STAAD or similar) and/or interpret results of analysis output Assist in foundation designs for substation structures. Foundations include shallow pads, spread footers and caisson/pier foundations Assist with the complete submission packages, supporting calculations, and applications necessary for permitting requirements in multiple states Write and edit technical engineering reports and specifications Perform detailed reviews and QA/QC for individual projects Assist in the preparation of construction cost estimates Travel to project sites and client visits Play an important role in the successful completion of engineering projects • Skills and Qualifications The ideal candidate will come with a background of supporting the civil engineering processes for a variety of projects. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to manage/support a project, and the professionalism and skill to communicate effectively internally and externally with clients. Past experience with a civil engineering consulting firm should include site development design, land development design, project management, stormwater analysis and drainage design utilizing AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D. Must be experienced in technical design and drafting in AutoCAD. Must have the ability to coordinate project submittals, facilitate regulatory agency approvals, and obtain construction permits. Candidates should have the ability to work with clients and agency staff, including attendance at public and/or construction meetings and also represent the company at other events as needed. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in relevant civil engineering A bachelor's degree in Engineering is required from an ABET accredited university Registered Engineer-In-Training (EIT) license required with intentions of obtaining a PE in the next 12 - 24 months. Extensive knowledge and experience using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D including Hydraflow Hydrographs, Express and Storm Sewers Demonstrated ability to communicate, build trust and rapport within a team, and effective working relationships, both internally within a multidisciplinary team and externally Ability to effectively utilize the Microsoft Office suite Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time Ability and willingness to work extended hours to meet project deadlines Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs Candidate must possess a high level of integrity Initiative/self-sufficiency, and a strong desire to learn new technologies, approaches, and best practices A background in electric utility market is preferred Additional skills (not required) CMU and retaining wall design PLS Caisson/MFAD/LPILE or other foundation software STAAD or other structural analysis program Solar field design experience Shadow studies Array layout We offer competitive compensation, a comprehensive benefits package, and the opportunity to learn, grow and contribute to a vibrant culture that stands the test of time. In person Familiarity with CAD drafting (AutoCAD, Civil 3D), Revit, MicroStation, GIS (ArcGIS), HEC software, and hydraulic modeling tools like SWMM is essential. Strong understanding of water treatment processes, wastewater management systems, and hydraulics principles. Ability to produce detailed technical writing for reports, schematics, and project documentation. Excellent communication skills to coordinate across teams and liaise with clients effectively.
