Job Description

at Department of Transportation in Collinsville, Illinois, United States Job Description Essential Functions Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the activities of the Local Roads and Streets Section. Approves for the department all Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E) for local agency projects utilizing Motor Fuel Tax ( MFT ), state, or federal funds. Develops and coordinates the Local Agency Federal Transportation Program. Provides administrative guidance and engineering expertise to local agencies to maximize their program accomplishments and utilization of resources. Coordinates the work of the Local Roads and Streets Section with other district bureaus, the central Bureau of Local Roads and Streets, local governmental agencies, and the various consulting engineering firms. Ensures that staff perform duties in accordance with departmental rules, regulations, programs, practices, and procedures. Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois OR current registration as a Licensed Structural Engineer in the state of Illinois. Six years of experience in civil engineering. Preferred Qualifications Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering as it relates to transportation infrastructure. Extensive knowledge of modern methods and techniques as applied to the design, construction, and maintenance of public works. Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations that govern transportation funding. Ability to supervise the preparation and completion of plans and specifications.
