Job Description
We are seeking a Construction Engineer II to support transportation and infrastructure construction projects within a dynamic engineering environment. This role is ideal for a civil engineering professional with hands-on experience in construction inspection, field documentation, quantity tracking, and infrastructure project execution. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with Project Managers and senior engineering staff to support roadway, transportation, and civil infrastructure projects from construction through completion.

Full-Time | Permanent | Onsite Key Responsibilities Construction Engineering & Field Oversight Review and interpret contract drawings, specifications, and construction documents Monitor and document construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications Identify and report non-compliant work or field issues Measure and calculate quantities of completed project work Assist with construction inspection activities across transportation and civil infrastructure projects Support project scheduling, cost tracking, and estimating efforts Documentation & Reporting Prepare daily field reports and technical documentation Maintain accurate project records, construction logs, and quantity tracking reports Gather project data and support engineering evaluations and field decisions Coordinate with contractors, project managers, and engineering teams throughout project execution Team Collaboration Work alongside senior engineers and project leadership on project delivery Provide guidance and quality review support to junior staff when needed Support project coordination and stakeholder communication Contribute to maintaining project schedules, safety standards, and quality expectations Qualifications Required Bachelor s Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline 3+ years of experience in construction engineering, civil engineering, or transportation infrastructure projects Experience reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and contract documents Knowledge of CPM scheduling and construction estimating principles Understanding of construction engineering practices, procedures, and field inspection processes Experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) Ability to work in both field and office environments throughout all seasons Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills Preferred PE license or progress toward licensure Familiarity with soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and bituminous materials Experience supporting roadway, transportation, or infrastructure construction projectsSimilar jobs in Lisle, IL
