Job Description

Entry level Geotechnical Engineer Rolling Meadows, IL 60008 From $60,000 a year - Full-time From $60,000 a year - Full-time Specialty Consulting, Inc. (SPC) is a Hispanic-owned infrastructure engineering and scientific consulting firm headquartered in Chicago. Since 2002, SPC has delivered environmental, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, and engineering services to public and private sector clients. SPC is seeking a self-motivated Staff-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team in Hoffman Estates or Chicago office. The selected candidate will work closely with Project Managers and senior engineers to support geotechnical investigations and construction services that meet client objectives and project priorities. Responsibilities include performing fieldwork and subsurface investigations and preparing accurate documentation of field activities, logs, and reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with subsurface investigations, including boring logs, test pits, sample collection, field testing Prepare drilling logs, field reports, and chain-of-custody documentation Help prepare geotechnical reports, technical memorandums, and project documentation Maintain accurate field records, logs, and daily reports Communicate field observations and updates to project managers Support coordination with contractors, clients, and internal teams Assist with laboratory testing coordination and data review
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering with geotechnical coursework EIT certification (or ability to obtain one) 0-3 years of experience in geotechnical engineering Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook) Excellent verbal & written communication skills Solid reasoning and problem-solving skills Proven self-starter, highly motivated, sets aggressive goals Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Occasional Travel required
