Job Title:
Civil Engineer EIT Job Description This role offers an excellent opportunity for a Civil Engineer EIT to contribute to a variety of land development projects by performing site grading, stormwater management, and site plan design using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D. You will prepare design calculations, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates while collaborating closely with other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects. The position provides strong professional growth potential, including the opportunity to work under a licensed Professional Engineer, gain hours toward licensure, and progress into project management and client-facing responsibilities. Responsibilities Use MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop site grading plans, stormwater management designs, and detailed site plans for land development projects. Prepare design calculations to support civil design elements, including grading, drainage, and stormwater systems. Develop quantity take-offs and assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for civil engineering components of projects. Support land development and site development projects for residential, municipal, commercial, and industrial clients. Coordinate and collaborate with other engineering disciplines and team members on multi-disciplinary projects to ensure cohesive and integrated designs. Assist with civil design tasks related to stormwater management, site layout, and infrastructure improvements. Contribute to both private and public sector projects, including potential work on transportation and infrastructure projects such as state department of transportation assignments. Work under the guidance and supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer to develop technical skills and gain experience toward professional licensure. Participate in project coordination, with the opportunity to grow into managing projects, interacting directly with clients, and mentoring junior staff over time. Essential Skills Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering. Approximately 2 or more years of land development experience. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation for civil design and drafting. Experience with land development, civil design, and site development projects. Ability to perform site grading design and prepare grading plans. Knowledge of stormwater management design and related calculations. Ability to prepare design calculations, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders. Eligibility to work under a Professional Engineer and progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure. Additional Skills & Qualifications PE license or active progress on the PE licensure track preferred. Experience working on residential, municipal, commercial, or industrial land development projects. Familiarity with both private and public sector project environments. Interest in gaining exposure to transportation or public infrastructure projects, including state department of transportation work. Desire to grow into a project management role with responsibilities for client interaction, team coordination, and mentoring others. Strong interest in continuous learning and professional growth within civil engineering and land development. Work Environment You will work in a professional office environment five days per week, collaborating closely with civil engineers and land development professionals in a multi-company building shared with other engineering and consulting firms. The team supports a diverse mix of private sector clients, including residential, municipal, commercial, and industrial developments, and also participates in public sector work, providing exposure to a wide range of project types. You will work directly under a licensed Professional Engineer, allowing you to accrue experience hours toward PE licensure and benefit from mentorship.
