Job Title:
Construction Engineer Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Construction Engineer responsible for construction contract administration and onsite observation for one or multiple projects. This role involves ensuring that construction adheres to project contract documents and client standards, making it a crucial part of our infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Provide construction observation for various infrastructure projects to assure construction is in conformance with project contract documents and client standards. Review and document contract quantities. Document project progress through daily or weekly reports. Assist with and/or perform construction contract administration tasks such as review of payment applications, change orders, submittals, and warranties. Act as a liaison between the client, contractor, residents, and other project stakeholders. Perform utility survey layouts for street resurfacing, coordinating with utility companies to identify and protect underground infrastructure. Conduct erosion control inspections for SWPP. Obtain as-built data and maintain redline markups throughout construction. Gather field information to support office staff's needs during construction and for various design projects as needed. Assist management staff in other requested tasks to meet company objectives. Work overtime as needed. Essential Skills BS in Civil Engineering. 5+ years of experience in civil/construction engineering. Experience with utilities such as storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water main. P.E. License in Illinois preferred or on P.E. track. IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities Certification preferred, or ability to obtain within 12 months. Excellent leadership and communication skills (written and oral). Working knowledge and experience with state and local regulations. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge and experience with CAD programs, preferably MicroStation. Valid driver's license and reliable means of transportation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Construction oversight, erosion control, and construction inspection skills. Experience with AutoCAD, stormwater management design, and site inspection. Familiarity with water main, GPS, utility construction, cost estimation, and material testing. Experience with road construction documents. Work Environment This position is open as the team continues to grow and expand due to a steady influx of projects. The role requires 90% onsite work, focusing on one project at a time, each lasting 3-4+ weeks throughout the Greater Chicagoland area with no overnight travel. The company provides vehicles, but personal vehicle use is occasionally necessary, with a monthly car allowance provided. Projects include municipal, local roads, and prime utilities. This position offers opportunities for professional growth, including obtaining a P.E. license and advancing in leadership roles within the office. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Rosemont, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $48.00/hr.
