Full Job Description Job Purpose:
We are seeking a highly motivated and well-rounded Design Engineer to support the design and development of new products for Anchor Industries. The engineer will support a wide variety of different market segments ranging from pool covers, shade, pergolas and structure products. A successful candidate will be skilled in 3D Modeling, has earned a degree in Structural Engineering (or civil engineering) and has the ability to manage and coordinate projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and create detailed drawings and 3D-smart-models for new products using AutoDesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Develop and create cutting patterns for complex products using AutoCAD, MPanel, and related software. Collaborate with Sales, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Purchasing teams to ensure effective product design and manufacturing processes. Organize and manage part numbers, descriptions and manufacturing routings for parts and assemblies. Ensure compliance to building codes such as
IBC 2024, ASCE 7-22, NFPA
701, etc… Support design for manufacturing initiatives (i.e. such as Lean Manufacturing). Coordinate with purchasing on sourcing new materials. Develop, research and revise product specifications based on customer needs, including on-site visits and blueprint reviews. Manage projects with external vendors, engineers, customers, and sales representatives. Ensure timely and effective task management to achieve departmental and company goals. Be available to work outside regular hours as required.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering (or Civil Engineering). Entry level engineering degree or up to 5-years of relevant work experience.
Language Skills:
Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, technical documents, and regulations. Effective communication skills, including writing reports, business correspondence, and building rapport with stakeholders.
Specific Job Skills Required:
Proficiency in AutoCAD Inventor and AutoCAD (or similar design software). Must be extremely proficient in excel and spreadsheet analysis tools Strong enthusiasm and commitment to company goals. Demonstrated ability to handle diverse tasks and meet deadlines.
Physical Demands:
Primarily office-based, requiring extended periods of sitting, but with occasional involvement in production and fieldwork. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., perform frequent walking, bending, kneeling, and other physical activities as needed. Comfortable working in production environments or outdoor fieldwork under varying weather conditions when required.
Relationship and Roles:
This position will report directly to the Design Engineering Manager. Interacts with all levels of Anchor employees.
