Job Description
Job Summary:
Since its inception in 1985, National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) at Wichita State University has made a name for itself as the most capable university-based aviation research center in the United States, providing research, design, testing, certification and training to the aviation manufacturing industry, government agencies, educational entities and other clients that can benefit from our services. This position will be an independent contractor consulting as a Stress Engineer with NIAR to support various diverse customer programs. This person will complete tasks that may include preliminary sizing, development of load paths, detailed analysis, certification and documentation required to support program objectives. Experience in both metallic and composite analysis is desired. Some travel may be required.Responsibilities:
Perform stress lead tasks as required to support program objectives. Perform detailed stress analyses and document as required to support program objectives. Analysis of details including primary structure, secondary structure, flight test, flight controls, mechanical systems, interiors, and major modifications. Participate in mentoring of junior analysts as they develop their engineering skillsets. Work under minimal direction. Domestic travel up to 10% may be required.Requirements:
Ability to work on-site 80% of the time This position requires access to EAR or ITAR controlled technologies. Applicants are required to be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws and must meet the requirement of being a "U.S. Citizen". Bachelors degree in Engineering Ten (10) years of stress analysis experience Experience with classical handbook analysis methods and Finite Element Modeling (Patran and Femap preferred) Experience with metallic and composite analysis methods Familiarity with civil and/or military structural design standards Experience in 3D CAD tools (Catia v5 or 3DE preferred) Demonstrated ability to achieve desired results within a defined schedule Excellent writing and communication skills Experience with Microsoft Office (word, excel, PowerPoint) Professional and diplomatic demeanor Strong sense of accountability and integrity Experience in technical leadership and mentoring of interns and junior engineers To view full details and how to apply, please login or create a Job Seeker accountSimilar jobs in Wichita, KS
