Stress Engineer Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Stress Engineer to perform structural analysis using classical stress analysis methods and finite element analysis on various types of aircraft structures. You will write structural substantiation reports meeting technical requirements for the program and certifying authority. Your role includes assessing primary and secondary structures, as well as flight test installations from both static strength and fatigue/damage tolerance perspectives. Additionally, you will understand customer requirements and prepare formal, controlled engineering documentation. Responsibilities Perform structural analysis using classical stress analysis methods and finite element analysis. Write structural substantiation reports that meet technical requirements. Assess primary and secondary aircraft structures from a static strength perspective. Review structures and installations from a fatigue and damage tolerance perspective. Prepare and manage formal engineering documentation, including structural analysis reports and specifications. Essential Skills 10+ years of experience in aircraft structural analysis, repair development, and certification support. Proficiency in classical hand calculations for stress, stability, fatigue, and damage-tolerance methods. Deep knowledge of primary aircraft structures such as skins, frames, stringers, spars, ribs, and pressure-retaining components. Experience in writing, reviewing, and approving structural substantiation reports. Proficiency with FEM tools such as Patran and Nastran. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in Engineering from an accredited university. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Experience using
CATIA V5.
Familiarity with NASGRO or similar crack growth analysis software is preferred. Understanding of civil aircraft certification requirements and experience supporting certification processes. Excellent communication and listening skills for effective collaboration in cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Eligibility to access and handle ITAR-controlled data. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $90.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
