Principal Civil Engineer The Principal Civil Enginer provides long term strategic direction, applies your technical expert skills, and resolves challenges throughout the project execution process; ensures the safe, efficient, productive, and cost-efficient project design and implementation of capital projects throughout the Active Ingredients manufacturing facility; monitors the project design and implementation of capital projects throughout the local site, with potential coordination with other AIM sites; provides informal leadership to internal teams and is accountable for planning, coordination, and execution of technical activities, in addition to identifying continuous improvement opportunities in capital execution throughout manufacturing operations; leads and develops teams to build site Project Engineering capabilities, enabling growth in the site team, and guides mentoring programs.YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role are to: Provide engineering project management to capital projects from initiation through completion $20M, and participate as engineering discipline lead on larger capital projects up to $50M, taking on more complex projects and increased project load than a Sr. Civil Project Engineer; Lead discipline project reviews, ensure thorough action item follow-up, and identify and complete all civil/structural engineering design deliverables for assigned projects; Work with area personnel and management to develop project justification, review outside engineering firm analyses, and validate project improvements and cost savings after implementation; Take full accountability for scope, budget, schedule, and quality of project deliverables, organizing work within given project constraints and accurately documenting project files and closure information in a timely manner; Develop conceptual layouts, cost studies, preliminary designs, material take-offs, detailed design calculations and sketches, emphasizing efficient use of construction materials, ease of construction, and conformance to codes, specifications, and good engineering practice; Collaborate closely with drafting and other engineering disciplines by providing clear sketches and details, checking calculations and drawings, resolving layout and detailing issues, and assembling scopes, drawings, and specifications into complete procurement packages; Review vendor and fabrication drawings, construction submittals, and other discipline deliverables for civil/structural input and conformance, while performing necessary fieldwork to gather data, verify tie-ins, and support construction; Provide technical guidance to drafting and engineering personnel, lead small to medium-sized teams in coordinating civil/structural efforts, and keep teams focused on scope, schedule, and budget; Coordinate the submission and inspection of any new occupied buildings or fire alarm or suppression changes to the State Fire Marshal, and interface effectively with internal stakeholders, external contractors, engineering service providers, suppliers, and relevant authorities.WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:Required Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Civil Engineering; Deep knowledge and application of the International Building Code and associated standards (ASCE, AISC, ACI, etc.), and expertise with civil/structural analysis software, including operating the tools and interpreting results; Strong understanding of discipline-specific methods, practices, and techniques required to engineer, design, and construct process and manufacturing projects, with proficiency in MS Office products; Significant experience working within multi-disciplinary teams, with strong interpersonal, delegation, leadership, and influencing skills, and the ability to manage and influence a diverse workforce; Demonstrated extreme attention to detail, comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, and strong commitment to safety, ethics, and company business standards and good practices; Highly developed communication, presentation, and organizational skills, with the ability to set priorities, manage multiple demands, and drive results in a complex project environment; Self-motivated mindset with a perpetual drive toward learning, developing, growing, and improving, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.Preferred Qualifications:
12+ years of engineering experience with a B.S., or 10+ years with an M.S., preferably in a chemical plant or refinery setting; Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $109,280.00- $163,920.00 .Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..
