Marais was founded in 2022 by Jennifer Snape, PE. We believe in providing thoughtful solutions to design challenges for private, federal, and municipal clients in the Gulf Coast Region. We specialize in historic preservation & adaptive reuse, structural design, civil design, and public outreach . We were founded on the principle that communication and close coordination within the design team leads to more successful and enjoyable projects. Throughout the life of a project, we understand the importance of responsiveness and clarity in communication. During the design process, our team looks for opportunities to improve the sustainability of every one of our projects, from economical design decisions to considerations for our changing climate. Marais believes in the importance of work-life balance and we are currently operating on a 4-½ day work week schedule. WHAT THE JOB ENTAILS
Marais is seeking a Junior or Mid-Level Structural Engineer. Junior-Level Engineer:
As a junior-level Structural Engineer, you will be involved in the planning, design, and construction of residential and commercial renovations and new construction projects as well as historic renovations/adaptive reuse projects. You will work under senior designers and assist with the development of construction documents (e.g., calculations, technical specifications, drawings) and construction oversight/administration. The ideal candidate will be open to developing creative designs and solutions with sustainability in mind and have the ability to design a project from start to finish. The ideal candidate will also be able to draft and compile a set of construction documents, calculations, specifications, and design reports. Requirements:
3+ years of experience in Structural Engineering. Engineer-in-training certification Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field. Knowledge and experience of structural engineering concepts, principles and practices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong problem-solving skills Enthusiastic and self-motivated. Work well within a multidisciplinary team. Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software. Good working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD) Good working knowledge of Revit Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel. Experience with wood-framed structures Knowledge of national building and construction codes Even better if you have: PE license or ability to acquire it within 2 years Experience with historic preservation and adaptive reuse Mid-Level Engineer:

You will also mentor junior designers and assist with the development of construction documents (e.g., calculations, technical specifications, drawings) and construction oversight/administration. You will be open to developing creative designs and solutions with sustainability in mind and have the ability to design a project from start to finish. You will be comfortable communicating with architects, contractors, colleagues, and clients regularly and contributing to business development and planning. Requirements:
5+ years of experience in Structural Engineering. Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field. PE license Knowledge and experience of structural engineering concepts, principles and practices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong problem-solving skills Enthusiastic and self-motivated. Work well within a multidisciplinary team. Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software. Good working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD) Good working knowledge of Revit Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
