JOB SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineer - Buildings is responsible for manufacturing process development and production support for MXS building product lines. This role is responsible for assembly sequencing, work instructions, ERP routing structures, manufacturing readiness, and continuous process improvement initiatives. The position is responsible for establishing efficient, scalable manufacturing processes that ensure quality, safety, and operational performance across the building product line. The Manufacturing Engineer partners closely with Design Engineering to support design-for-manufacturing efforts and ensure products are efficiently and safely transitioned into production.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and maintain manufacturing process documentation, work instructions, and assembly sequences Lead ERP routing configuration and validation for building product lines Collaborate with Design Engineering to support manufacturable product designs Lead manufacturing readiness activities for new product introductions Provide technical expertise for production issues, process improvements, and floor escalations Maintain manufacturing documentation revision control and process updates Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, manufacturing efficiency, and production flow Assist with tooling, fixture, and staging process development as needed Ensure manufacturing documentation aligns with current production practices and quality standards Lead cross-functional teams during first builds and process validation activities
QUALIFICATIONS
Work Experience:
4+ years of manufacturing engineering experience preferred Experience in structural steel, modular construction, precast, or industrial manufacturing environments strongly preferred Experience developing work instructions and ERP routings in production environments Experience supporting new product introduction and manufacturing readiness activities preferred
Preferred Skills:
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production flow Expertise in design-for-manufacturing principles Familiarity with welding processes and WPS/PQR documentation Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production-related issues
Education:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used, as necessary.
