Job Description
Open until filled with a best consideration date of May 14, 2026. This recruitment may close without notice. This position will be filled at the Engineer I, II, or III level. The level and salary offered will be dependent upon education and experience. The hiring salary range for Engineer I is $ 71,472.76
- $ 115,785.93. The hiring salary range for Engineer II is $ 76,883.35
- $ 124,469.84. The hiring salary range for Engineer III is $ 82,595.71
- $133,805.
Education and Experience:
Engineer I- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Engineer II
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and three years of related engineering work experience. Engineer III
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and five (5) years of progressively responsible engineering work experience.
Licenses or Certifications:
Valid driver's license. Engineer I- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification preferred. Engineer II
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification required. Engineer III
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification required.
Special Requirements/Qualifications:
Work is subject to interruptions and inflexible deadlines. May be required to work some evenings and weekends to coincide with project schedules and/ or public information meetings. This position is required to receive climate competency training level 2.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the principles, concepts and techniques of civil engineering as applied to grading, storm drainage, flood plain management, stormwater management, roads, water and sewer and related activities.
- Knowledge of relevant engineering software programs.
- Knowledge of manuals, such as
AASHTO, MIJTCD. SHA
Book of Standards. SHA Standard Specifications for Construction and Materials etc.- Knowledge of Local, State, and Federal guidelines and regulations.
- Ability to Perform technically sound engineering and related studies and formulate appropriate recommendations.
- Ability to determine specific tasks and assignments to be performed, independently handling new, unusual problems and deviations encountered in the work.
- Ability to conduct onsite inspections.
- Ability to interpret and apply applicable ordinances, rules, regulations, standard specifications and details to varied engineering and related situations.
- Ability to develop and interpret engineering design and construction policies.
- Ability to maintain records and prepare related reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including assisting public presentations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others encountered in the work, including internal and external customers.
- Ability to carry out assignments, follow through on matters, and use independent judgment and training to take appropriate actions to deal with standard recurring situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary with frequent periods of moderate physical activity and is performed in office and field surroundings. Typical positions require workers to walk or stand for long periods; lift and carry up to 20 pounds; climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding; bend, kneel, crouch and crawl; reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; feel the size, shape and temperature of items; and use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards. The work requires the ability to speak normally, to use normal or aided vision and hearing, and to detect odors.WORK ENVIRONMENT
