Job Description

Job Overview Hearn Industrial Services in the Detroit area i s seeking a Project Enginee r .The Project Engineer plays a critical role in supporting new business launches, facility expansions, and operational improvement initiatives within the automotive 3PL logistics environment. This role is responsible for cost estimating, process design, facility layout, capital purchases, and continuous improvement efforts to optimize cost, capacity, and performance. The Project Engineer collaborates cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, IT, and Project Management to deliver solutions that meet customer and business requirements. Duties Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects from conception through completion. Develop detailed schematics, CAD models, and system designs using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other CAD tools. Utilize programming languages such as Python, C++, and scripting to automate processes, analyze data, and optimize system performance. Design and implement control systems involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automation technologies. Conduct research and feasibility studies to support project development and innovation initiatives. Collect and analyze data to monitor project progress, troubleshoot issues, and improve operational efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, laboratory personnel, and construction teams to ensure project alignment with technical specifications. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively while maintaining compliance with safety standards. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for stakeholders. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field; advanced degrees preferred. Proven experience with mechanical knowledge, system design, and project management in manufacturing or construction environments. Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks; experience with MATLAB is a plus. Strong programming skills in Python, C++, scripting languages; familiarity with data collection and analysis tools. Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation systems. Ability to interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical drawings. Laboratory experience or research background is advantageous. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong math fundamentals. Effective communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and preparing technical documentation. Pay:
$70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
