Job Description

Our Development Engineer will work out of our Midwest Division, located in Edina, Minnesota. This position will serve as the technical resource to our development engineers, architects, design and operations teams. Through facility assessments, the role will determine the existing condition, performance and deficiencies of building systems and assets to identify opportunities for improving efficiency and operational performance. Candidates should be willing to travel to project sites 25
- 50% of the time within the Midwest region. The salary range is $65,000
- 80,000 . The salary may vary within the range based on factors such as location of the role, and a candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Development Engineer Level 1 Responsibilities
- Conducts surveys of customer facilities and assesses the current condition, operational performance and deficiencies of the building systems and infrastructure. This includes; HVAC Systems, Controls Systems, Plumbing Systems, Electrical Systems, Life Safety and Security Systems, Interior Finishes, Building Envelope Systems, Grounds and Site, Etc.
- Performs on-site information gathering, testing and technical measurements such as indoor air quality testing, light level and acoustic measurements, as well as data logging of mechanical equipment and indoor environments. Determines how building systems are being controlled and currently functioning.
- Develops various marked-up floor plans that illustrate existing conditions, such as CO2, light levels and acoustic measurements.
- Develops PowerPoint slides for the development team illustrating facility issues and opportunities for improvements.
- Assists development engineers and architects in identifying and developing facility improvement measures.
- Works with the development engineers and architects in defining technical scopes of work.
- Meets regularly with the project development team to review development progress and schedules to insure delivery of customer reports.
- Develops and analyzes energy baselines for benchmarking.
- Calculates energy and operations & maintenance savings associated with proposed improvements.
- Assists in the creation of asset lifecycle assessments
- Works with the lead development engineers in developing the technical and financial components of the job to include accurate cost and savings estimates.
- Works with subcontractors and consultants to ensure the quality of work is consistent with the requirements of the job.
- Assist in the development of Revit models of piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork systems in compliance with building codes, construction standards, and instructions from project leadership.
- Accurately model the BIM elements in the correct special constraints of the Revit software.
- Maintain the discipline model including project information, coordinates, scales, orientations, scope boundaries, match-lines, views, and sheets.
- Produce specific documentation with accurate annotations on all modeling output. Development Engineer Level 1 Qualifications
- Technical College Degree
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- General computer skills and proficiency on smart phone and tablet devices required.
- Proficient understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, or Autodesk.
- Committed team player willing to plug in where needed.
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational traits. Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 20-pound tool and equipment bags.
- Ability to safety climb ladders and move over uneven terrain as necessary to access facility equipment.
