This position supports commercial construction projects primarily in Rochester, MN and throughout Southeastern Minnesota , while receiving initial and ongoing professional development through our Twin Cities headquarters. Position Summary The Project Engineer supports project managers and field teams in the successful planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of commercial drywall, metal framing, spray foam, spray fireproofing, EIFS, lath, and plaster projects. This role is essential to maintaining project schedules, budgets, documentation, and communication between internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and general contractors. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced construction environment, is highly organized, and is eager to develop expertise in specialty commercial interiors and exterior systems. Key ResponsibilitiesProject Coordination & Administration Assist Project Managers with planning and execution of commercial drywall and plaster projects Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation Coordinate material procurement and deliveries. Track project milestones, schedules, and labor progress Maintain accurate job cost reporting and budget tracking Support project closeout documentation, warranties, and punch lists Field & Office Support Work closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field crews to support successful execution Participate in project meetings with clients, architects, vendors, and general contractors Conduct site visits throughout Rochester and Southeastern Minnesota as needed Help ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards Support problem-solving for design, scheduling, and operational challenges Training & Development Complete company onboarding and technical training at Twin Cities headquarters Learn company systems, project management methods, estimating processes, and specialty trade best practices Develop career path toward Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager roles
QualificationsRequired:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or related field OR equivalent construction industry experience Strong organizational and communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) Ability to read construction drawings and specifications Valid driver's license with reliable transportation Willingness to travel locally throughout Southeastern Minnesota job sites
Preferred:
