Job Description
Our client, a national, multidisciplined engineering firm, is seeking a Bridge Engineer to join their North Carolina team, with flexibility to be based in Raleigh, Charlotte, Winston‑Salem, or Greensboro. This is an excellent opportunity for a structural engineer with a strong bridge design background who is passionate about delivering technically complex infrastructure projects and growing within a collaborative, design‑focused environment. The firm is known for its strong backlog, long‑term stability, and commitment to technical excellence and mentorship. This individual will be a pivotal hire with growth into a project manager or technical lead role.
The Bridge Engineer will be responsible for:
The Bridge Engineer will be responsible for:
- Performing structural analysis and design for new and existing bridge structures
- Developing bridge plans, details, calculations, and specifications from preliminary through final design
- Designing concrete and steel bridge elements in accordance with AASHTO and DOT standards
- Supporting bridge rehabilitation, replacement, and widening projects
- Preparing load ratings and structural evaluations for existing bridges
- Coordinating closely with roadway, geotechnical, hydraulic, and construction teams
- Assisting with QA/QC reviews and constructability considerations
- Supporting junior engineers through technical guidance and mentorshipThe ideal candidate will have:
- 4+ years of experience in structural or bridge engineering
- Hands‑on experience with DOT bridge design projects (NCDOT preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred, optional)
- EIT or PE license (or ability to obtain)
- Experience using OpenBridge, OpenRoads, CSI Bridge, or MicroStation
- Strong understanding of AASHTO bridge design standards
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset
