Structural Engineer
AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Buildings + Places group. This position involves leading the structural design and analysis of complex building and infrastructure projects, exercising sound engineering judgment, and mentoring junior staff. The position offers the opportunity to work independently, interpret building codes, and contribute meaningfully to project delivery and team development.
- Key Responsibilities
- + Lead the structural design and analysis of building systems and primary structural elements with minimal supervision.
+ engineering principles, building codes, and industry standards to make independent technical decisions.+ Develop solutions to non-routine engineering challenges using established methods, modified approaches, or prior project experience.+ Perform and review structural calculations, analyses, and associated design documentation.+ Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in analysis results or design assumptions.+ Manage assigned tasks to meet agreed-upon project scope, schedule, and budget requirements.+ Provide technical guidance, oversight, and mentorship to entry-level and junior engineers.+ Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects and other engineering disciplines.
- Qualifications
- Required Qualifications
- + Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience completing structural design tasks with limited supervision, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Preferred Qualifications
- + Master of Science degree with a concentration in Structural Engineering.
+ Professional Engineer (PE) license.
+ LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) credential.
+ Demonstrated experience completing structural design tasks with limited supervision.
+ Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, and RISA.
+ Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
+ Experience with finite element analysis and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
+ Design experience with multiple building materials, including steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.
+ Strong knowledge of applicable building codes, industry standards, and seismic design principles.
+ Demonstrated leadership ability, including mentoring and task coordination.
+ Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
+ Effective written and verbal communication skills.
+ Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies is a plus.
