Responsibilities Perform and seal structural steel design and detailing for heavy industrial facilities. Perform structural analysis and system design utilizing FEA (Finite Element Analysis) tools to ensure safety, stability, and compliance with relevant codes and standards. Design foundations (spread footings, piles, mats) and concrete structures supporting heavy equipment and dynamic loads. Review and approve steel fabrication shop drawings and erection drawings. Coordinate with other disciplines (process, mechanical, piping, electrical). Perform site visits, field verification, and construction-phase support when needed. Occasionally assist with proposals. Prepare comprehensive technical reports and documentation through technical writing that clearly communicates design intent and project progress. Develop technical specifications. Coordinate with designers to develop structural drawings. Apply project management principles to ensure timely delivery of high-quality engineering solutions. Required Skills and Credentials Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) required, Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus; 2-5 years of structural design experience focused on heavy industrial steel structures (power plants, mining facilities, material handling, chemicals, pulp and paper, renewables, etc.). Basic knowledge of
AISC 360, ASCE
7, IBC, and ACI 318. Experience designing and detailing braced and moment frame structures in heavy industrial facilities. Knowledge in
STAAD, RAM
Structural System, RAM Connection, or similar tools. Comfortable reading and red-lining shop drawings. Excellent communication skills Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of Front-End Loading (FEL) studies is a plus
