Steel MFG About the Position ProStaffing is seeking an experienced and motivated Detailing Manager to lead our customer's structural steel and miscellaneous steel detailing department. This individual will be responsible for managing a team of 6-8 detailers while also actively participating in detailing, coordinating workloads, and ensuring customer deadlines and quality expectations are consistently met. The Detailing Manager maintains a high level of attention to detail and accuracy to ensure the end-product is of the highest quality. Our client utilizes Tekla Structures by Trimble for their software. Candidates should have extensive structural steel detailing experience, leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. The ideal Detailing Manager will have at least 3-5 years of experience in structural steel detailing and prior experience managing or leading a detailing team. Experience with a 3D steel detailing program is required. Experience with Tekla Structures is highly preferred. Management Responsibilities 1. Manage and lead a detailing department consisting of 6-8 detailers. 2. Coordinate department workload to ensure customer schedules and fabrication deadlines are met. 3. Assign detailing projects and priorities based on workload, project complexity, and deadlines. 4. Monitor project progress and provide support to team members as needed. 5. Train, mentor, and develop detailing staff to improve productivity, accuracy, and efficiency. 6. Maintain communication between detailing, project management, fabrication, and customers. 7. Ensure detailing standards, company procedures, and quality expectations are consistently followed. 8. Assist in resolving project conflicts, detailing discrepancies, and customer concerns. 9. Participate in department planning and process improvement initiatives. Detailing Responsibilities 1. Detail multiple structural steel and miscellaneous steel projects simultaneously, ranging from several hundred tons to quick-turn projects with only a few items. 2. Create 3D models of structural steel from architectural and structural drawings supplied by customers and contractors. 3. Create shop and erection drawings from 3D models and/or architectural and structural drawings. 4. Create RFIs for missing or conflicting information and submit them to the general contractor. 5. Interact with joist and decking suppliers to ensure structural integrity and accuracy. 6. Work with internal Quality Control personnel to answer questions and update drawings. 7. Submit drawings to customers and contractors for approval. 8. Update drawings based on internal and customer approval comments. 9. Interact with structural engineers as necessary to design connections and/or size structural members. 10. Meet specific deadlines for released shop drawings to ensure steel is fabricated on time. Qualifications 1. Minimum of 3-5 years of structural steel detailing experience required. 2. Previous leadership or management experience strongly preferred. 3. Proficiency with 3D steel detailing software required. 4. Tekla Structures experience strongly preferred. 5. Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills. 6. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. 7. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. 8. Ability to work collaboratively with customers, contractors, engineers, project managers, and fabrication personnel. 9. Commitment to accuracy, quality, and customer satisfaction.
