Up to $90,000 per year, depending on experience Are you ready to take your civil construction career into the field and be part of a major heavy civil project? We are hiring a Field Engineer to join a growing project team in Fargo, ND. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys being on-site, solving problems, working with project leaders, and helping move large-scale construction work forward. You will work closely with the Superintendent, Project Manager, engineering staff, safety team, subcontractors, and field crews to support both field operations and project coordination. This is not a desk-only role. You will be involved in the action, helping track progress, review plans, support quality and safety efforts, and keep important project details organized from start to finish. What You'll Do Support daily field operations on a heavy civil construction project Assist with construction planning, drawing review, and project coordination Read and interpret plans, specifications, standards, and subcontractor scopes of work Prepare quantity takeoffs and verify completed work quantities Help track pay quantities, invoicing details, and work-in-place measurements Maintain project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, as-built drawings, and logs Update drawings with RFIs, bulletins, ASIs, and field changes Review timecards, cost codes, equipment time, purchases, and other project cost items Assist with project engineering procedures and document control Take weekly jobsite photos to track progress Work with the safety team to help maintain accurate project safety records Support quality control activities in the field Assist with project status reports, meeting notes, and close-out documentation Participate in constructability reviews and value engineering discussions Complete additional project tasks as assigned What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred 2+ years of civil construction experience E.I.T. preferred, but not required Ability to read and understand construction plans and drawings Strong computer skills Experience with Microsoft Office products CAD experience preferred, especially AutoCAD Experience with Procore, Fieldwire, or similar document control software is a plus Basic understanding of project costs and cost tracking Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with field and office teams Willingness to relocate to Fargo, ND, if not already local Why This Role Stands Out This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career in heavy civil construction.
