This person will support field operations for concrete construction projects by combining technical project engineering responsibilities with day‑to‑day safety coordination. This role works closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Project Engineering Assist the Project Manager with planning, scheduling, and coordinating concrete construction activities. Review contracts, plans, and specifications; identify scope gaps, constructability issues, and conflicts. Assist with project schedules and workload forecasting. Coordinate RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and approvals with design teams and clients. Track and document project progress, daily reports, quantities placed, and productivity. Assist with change order pricing and documentation. Support procurement of materials and services; track deliveries and verify quantities. Maintain organized project documentation including drawings, logs, correspondence, and reports. Participate in pre‑construction planning, including work sequencing, and site logistics. Collaborate with field teams to resolve technical issues during concrete placement, finishing, and curing. Safety Coordination Implement and enforce the company's Safety Program on assigned projects. Conduct site safety orientations for new employees, subcontractors, and visitors. Perform regular jobsite safety inspections and audits; document findings and follow‑up actions. Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Site‑Specific Safety Plans. Monitor compliance with OSHA, local regulations, and company safety policies, especially for:
- Concrete placement and finishing
- Excavations, trenches, and shoring
- Formwork, shoring, and reshoring
- Cranes, rigging, and material handling
- Fall protection, scaffolding, and elevated work
- Silica exposure, PPE, and housekeeping Lead or assist with safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
Participate in incident/near‑miss investigations; assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions. Maintain safety records, inspections, and reports; support reporting to regulatory agencies as required. Coach field personnel on safe work practices and help promote a strong safety culture. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered. 1+ years of experience in commercial construction preferred. Prior safety coordination experience or strong interest in safety management. Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of concrete construction methods, equipment, and sequencing. Working knowledge of OSHA Construction standards and applicable local regulations. Proficient with construction software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project). Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and safety regulations. Strong organizational, documentation, and time‑management skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with field crews and management. Detail‑oriented with the ability to anticipate issues and propose practical solutions.
Working Conditions:
Primarily field‑based with frequent time on active construction sites in varying weather conditions. Regular use of PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, high‑visibility vest, gloves, and safety footwear. Occasional overtime, night work, and weekend work as project schedules require. Ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 20 lbs as needed on the jobsite. Occasional overnight travel.
