Job Description

Construction Engineer Overview Start with approximately 2 years in construction quality assurance and environmental field work (regional travel), then transition into a Construction Project Manager role with reduced travel. Gain hands-on experience across landfill, groundwater, and spill response projects while building toward managing complex construction and remediation efforts. Key Responsibilities Perform CQA observations and document compliance with plans/specs Conduct groundwater, landfill gas, and vapor monitoring Support landfill liner/cap construction and drilling oversight Collect environmental samples (soil, water, air, gas) and maintain field documentation Assist with technical reporting and data management Support spill response and site inspections Coordinate with PMs, contractors, and field teams Use CAD and Microsoft tools for documentation and design review Travel regionally (primarily within 6 hours of Omaha) Qualifications BS in Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, or related (preferred) 0-2 years of field/environmental experience; inspection a plus Strong technical, documentation, and communication skills Willingness to travel and perform field work (including lifting up to 100 lbs) Familiarity with environmental regulations and monitoring (preferred) CAD (Civil 3D) and Microsoft Office proficiency Work Environment & Growth Field-heavy role with seasonal shift to office work (specs, bids) Paid travel, lodging, company vehicle, and reimbursed expenses Exposure to landfill, remediation, and infrastructure projects Clear path to Project Manager with support for certifications and development Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
