You will support projects such as municipal solid waste landfills, groundwater monitoring, and chemical or petroleum spill response while gaining hands-on experience in environmental monitoring, construction oversight, and regulatory compliance. Over time, you will have the opportunity to grow into managing more complex construction and remediation projects, including responsibilities such as submittals, schedules, and inspections, supported by a culture that emphasizes professional development and long-term career growth. Responsibilities Perform construction quality assurance (CQA) observations on active construction sites and document compliance with design plans and specifications. Conduct field work including groundwater monitoring, landfill gas monitoring, and vapor monitoring at various project locations. Assist with landfill cap and liner construction quality assurance activities, ensuring proper installation and performance. Collect and document environmental samples including soil, water, air, and landfill gas following established protocols. Assist with drilling oversight, including well installation and subsequent monitoring activities. Participate in emergency spill response efforts as needed, supporting containment, assessment, and documentation. Coordinate daily activities with project managers, field teams, and contractors to ensure safe and efficient project execution. Use CAD and Microsoft software platforms to support project documentation, design review, and data management. Apply knowledge of environmental regulations and civil construction practices to support compliance and quality on projects. Contribute to inspection activities in the field, including observing earthwork and civil construction activities. Support data collection and reporting tasks related to environmental monitoring and testing. Travel to project sites, primarily within a six-hour radius of Omaha, for extended field assignments. During winter and slower construction periods, assist with preparing specifications, supporting the bid process, and office-based project tasks. Prepare and maintain accurate records of expenses and field activities in accordance with company procedures. Adhere to safety procedures, use required personal protective equipment (PPE), and participate in required safety training. Perform light labor in the field, including lifting and moving equipment and materials such as large pieces of pipe for testing. Develop skills and experience that will support a future transition into a construction project manager role, including exposure to submittals, scheduling, and advanced inspection responsibilities. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architectural engineering, environmental science, or a related field preferred. 0-2 years of relevant field or environmental experience; inspection experience is a plus. Comfort working on municipal solid waste landfill projects, groundwater well monitoring programs, and spill response projects. Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining strong collaboration with office-based teams. Travel is mainly regional within approximately six hours of Omaha, though occasional unique projects in other areas may arise. Field assignments can be extended in duration, with the opportunity to return home for a long weekend about once a month during intensive periods.
