  • Multi-Family & High-Rise Construction Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Engineer to support delivery of multi-family, mid-rise and high-rise construction projects.
The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers and Project Coordinators to manage technical submittals, coordination, quality control, schedule tracking and contractor communication from preconstruction through closeout. This role combines on-site presence with office-based coordination to ensure projects are built safely, on schedule and within budget. Key Responsibilities Support Project Managers by coordinating shop drawings, submittals, RFIs and technical documentation; ensure timely review and distribution to trades and design team. Conduct regular site visits to verify construction quality, progress and compliance with contract documents; document findings and follow up on corrective actions. Maintain and update project schedules, daily/weekly progress reports and milestone tracking; identify schedule risks and support mitigation efforts. Monitor costs and assist with tracking contractor invoices, change orders and budget impacts; provide input to cost forecasting and claims documentation. Coordinate interdisciplinary trade interfaces, sequencing, logistics and deliveries for mid-rise and high-rise construction to minimize conflicts and downtime. Assist with permitting, inspections, and code compliance activities; coordinate with inspectors, consultants and third-party testing agencies. Support safety program implementation on site, ensure subcontractor adherence to safety requirements and report incidents or near-misses. Utilize BIM/CAD models and construction documents to resolve field issues, coordinate installations and prepare as-built documentation. Participate in owner, architect and contractor meetings; prepare meeting agendas, minutes and action item tracking to closure. Mentor and collaborate with Project Coordinators, junior engineers and field staff to streamline workflows and improve site-to-office communication. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field, or equivalent construction experience. 3+ years of construction experience with demonstrated involvement on multi-family, mid-rise or high-rise projects; prior experience as a Project Coordinator or Project Engineer strongly preferred. Proficiency with construction drawing review, submittal processes, RFIs and change order documentation. Experience with BIM/AutoCAD/Revit and construction scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera or similar). Strong understanding of structural and MEP coordination, building codes and QC/QA processes for residential high-rise construction. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with owners, design teams, subcontractors and inspectors. Proven problem-solving, organizational and time-management skills; ability to work independently on site and in the office. Familiarity with safety programs and certifications (OSHA 10/30 preferred) and a valid drivers license. Preferred skills: direct experience in Construction, multi-family development, roles as Project Coordinator or Project Engineer, and hands-on involvement with High-rise and mid-rise projects.
