$120,000-$140,000 base salary + up to 30% annual bonus Employment type : Full Time Job summary : Our Client in Moorestown, NJ is seeking a Manager for Capital Investment (Engineer) to lead capital projects, construction management, and maintenance-related improvements for retail and wholesale fuel station sites. This role oversees rebranding/debranding initiatives, site appearance upgrades, permitting and compliance, vendor/contractor management, and project execution from scope development through punch list and closeout. The ideal candidate brings strong engineering and project management skills, experience with retail gas stations or convenience/fuel environments, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining safety, quality, and brand standards.Responsibilities :
Manage capital improvement and construction projects for retail and wholesale sites, including planning, scheduling, and field execution Lead rebranding projects (installation, construction coordination, permitting activities) and debranding for permanently closed sites Oversee site exterior enhancement programs (power washing, painting, seal coating, canopy upgrades, general curb appeal initiatives) Coordinate canopy LED strip lighting upgrades and other facility modernization projects Develop scopes of work, prepare bid specifications, and manage the full bidding process to maximize return on capital Review, evaluate, and approve contractor bids, schedules, and project plans; select vendors and negotiate project requirements Conduct site visits, create punch lists, inspect work in progress, and approve completed work to agreed designs, standards, and safety protocols Track construction schedules and project timelines to minimize operational disruption and station downtime Submit, review, and manage proposals to ensure station appearance and construction meet company and brand standards Ensure all federal, state, and local permits are obtained and maintained for construction and maintenance projects Complete and maintain Technical Passports documenting installed equipment and technical details at each location Track and report temporary station closures due to maintenance issues; coordinate corrective actions and reopening plans Review and authorize repairs requested by field teams; provide on-site support to resolve station-level issues Review and approve final invoices for payment; verify contract deliverables and closeout documentation Support the department manager with ongoing analysis of regional capital and maintenance needs and long-term planning Assist with preparation of capital, maintenance, and construction budgets; monitor spend against budget targets Help manage maintenance issue tracking using web-based systems to classify, dispatch, and build historical equipment/service records Develop and maintain construction and safety standards, procedures, and compliance practices to maximize safety outcomesRequirements :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (from an accredited university); PE certification strongly preferred 2-5 years of professional experience in capital projects, construction management, facilities engineering, or similar (or equivalent combination of education/experience) Proven experience managing contractors/subcontractors, including performance oversight, issue resolution, and jobsite coordination Working knowledge of permitting processes (federal/state/local) and construction compliance for multi-site operations Strong project management skills: scope development, bid packages, schedule tracking, site inspections, punch lists, and closeout Familiarity with retail fuel stations / convenience store environments is preferred Ability to analyze technical documents, proposals, financial reports, and vendor contracts; strong written and verbal communication skills Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; comfortable using web-based tracking systems and online research Valid state driver's license and ability to travel regularly to job sites Ability to perform site-based work, including standing/walking, climbing/balancing, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs Comfort working around typical construction/site conditions (outdoor weather, mechanical equipment, moderate noise, occasional electrical or height-related risks) Interested? : https://www.jjstaff.com/apply-now/ For more information regarding this position or other opportunities contact J & J at: CherryHill@jjstaff.com or 856-751-5050.
