Senior Structural Engineer - Buildings

Our client, a well-established and growing structural engineering firm in Buffalo, NY, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead building design projects across New York State. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys technical leadership, mentoring junior staff, and acting as a trusted advisor to clients.

The OpportunityIn this role, you will take ownership of complex structural building projects from concept through construction, serve as Engineer of Record, and help guide a talented team of engineers and designers. Key ResponsibilitiesLead and/or independently develop structural analysis models and calculation packages for a variety of building and structural systemsServe as Engineer of Record on assigned projectsOversee and mentor junior engineering staff, including task delegation and technical guidanceReview and contribute to structural drawings and models prepared using Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM toolsPrepare, review, and approve engineering deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimatesPerform technical and quality control reviews in accordance with firm, client, and industry standardsCoordinate with internal project teams, external consultants, clients, and regulatory agencies to secure necessary approvalsSupport design investigations and provide construction-phase oversight as neededTravel within New York State for project-related activitiesTechnical Skills & ExperienceStrong background in structural analysis and building designProficient with Revit, AutoCAD, Mathcad, and spreadsheet-based engineering toolsAbility to take projects from concept through final design with minimal oversightProven ability to manage multiple projects and lead small multidisciplinary teamsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsQualificationsBS or MS in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural EngineeringNew York State PE license (required)10+ years of structural engineering experienceExperience with steel and concrete design required; civil/site experience is a plus
