Our work centers on geotechnical investigations, subsurface investigations, geotechnical engineering, real estate due diligence, and pre-development site feasibility for commercial and development projects where technical interpretation, soil analysis, and report writing are critical early in the process. As a small consulting practice, engineers play a direct role in interpreting subsurface conditions, preparing technical reports, and advising clients early in the development process. You will be part of a close-knit team where your experience, judgment, and technical voice directly contribute to project outcomes. This opportunity is ideal for a licensed NYS Professional Engineer with approximately 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience who is confident in subsurface interpretation, geotechnical report preparation, technical analysis, and contributing to early-stage development decisions. Day-to-day responsibilities include equal parts fieldwork and technical report writing. Our engineers work directly with ownership, clients, field operations, and technical reporting. The right candidate will be self-directed, analytical, field-oriented, and comfortable taking responsibility for both investigations and conclusions. Key Responsibilities Lead and review geotechnical investigations supporting real estate due diligence and site feasibility evaluations Interpret subsurface data from borings, test pits, and laboratory testing Perform bearing capacity, settlement, and site feasibility analyses Prepare geotechnical engineering reports, technical findings, and foundation recommendations Evaluate subsurface conditions and identify risks impacting site acquisition and development Participate in field investigations, subsurface explorations, and special inspections Ensure compliance with New York City Building Code and applicable standards Attend project meetings and communicate findings to clients and stakeholders Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (geotechnical focus preferred) New York State Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required Approximately 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience Strong technical writing, geotechnical report writing, and analytical skills Experience with subsurface investigations and report preparation Ability to independently interpret field data, soil conditions, and technical findings Comfortable working in both field and office environments Compensation & Benefits (NYC & NYS Pay Transparency Compliant)
Salary Range:
$125,000 - $140,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This range represents the good-faith salary range for this position in accordance with New York State and New York City pay transparency laws.
