Job Description

Black Diamond is a general contracting and construction management firm located in Saratoga Springs, New York and we are seeking an ambitious, talented and organized Project Engineer to join our growing company. Project Engineers are responsible for managing information as well as internal and external relationships critical to a project's success. In this role, your efforts will be essential to the day-to-day management and successful completion of exciting, multifamily developments, hospitality, healthcare, student housing, retail and corporate projects. The successful candidate works closely with Project Managers and will build diverse experience in the areas of permitting, scheduling, procurement, document control and other essential functions. Project Engineer:
Develop strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and vendors, design team and other outside parties critical to a project's success; ensure close collaboration and communication. Manage project related documents; prepare contract related documents and partner with Project Manager to ensure contracts are issued prior to beginning of project, assist with permit applications and other paperwork, order/package project drawings as needed. Request insurance from subcontractors and review for accuracy. Work with project team to decide items required for proper jobsite setup and ensure items are in place prior to start of project. Schedule and attend all project meetings, assist the Project Manager by drafting meeting forms and printing documents as requested. Assist in communicating accurate project schedule information to subs/suppliers regarding schedule dates and coordination amount all trades. Assist in deploying the project strategy and meeting established profit goals. Monitor and maintain the procurement schedule; proactively identify and resolve problems, track status of the schedule on a weekly basis and make updates and adjustments timely and accurately. Contribute in the submittal process; track submittal status and follow up on open items, review and distribute submittals to Architect/subcontractors in a timely manner and cross check the submittal log against the procurement schedule. Help in writing and issuing all RFIs (Request for Information) and follow up to ensure timely responses are provided by the Architect and Engineers and the information is distributed appropriately to the field and to affected subcontractors and vendors. Adhere to and promote Black Diamond's risk management and safety policies and procedures and partner with the Project Manager and Superintendent to ensure they are followed. Assist throughout the permitting and Certificate of Occupancy processes, as well provide assistance with project closeout for the office and field; help with financial closeout, enter and distribute punch list, cancel jobsite services; archive project related documents upon final completion. Provide support as needed to assist with estimating and accounting activities.
The successful candidate will possess:
1-4 years assistant project manager/project admin/project engineer experience in the multifamily, hospitality, retail or corporate sectors Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field is a plus Strong computer skills and communication skills Some travel may be required
