Cincinnati, OH Responsibilities:
Inspect construction work on transportation, utility, and infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with state and federal specifications. Correlate and analyze field data, verify pay quantities, and review plans and records. Assist with scheduling, documentation reviews, and maintaining project correspondence. Prepare estimates, process change orders, and support time extensions and contract adjustments. Communicate with contractors, clients, and project stakeholders regarding technical issues and field conditions. Review project submittals and RFIs and coordinate responses with the Project Manager. Ensure proper documentation in AASHTOWare Project, Appia, or equivalent software. Maintain accurate project records, including field books, daily reports, and photos. Participate in project meetings and provide updates, records, and recommendations. Uphold and promote all safety and quality expectations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program required. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain. Minimum of 2 years of construction inspection or relevant construction experience. Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract requirements. Strong communication, analytical, and documentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and exposure to design or markup tools (Bluebeam REVU preferred). Working knowledge of AASHTOWare Project, Appia, or similar platforms preferred.
Preferred Certifications:
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I Aggregate Level I or equivalent Traffic Control/Work Zone Safety Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach as required to observe and inspect construction work 100% of the time. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel to various job sites and client meetings 100% of the time. Visual and auditory acuity to observe construction activities, read plans/specifications, and communicate effectively with team members, contractors, and clients 100% of the time. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer, testing equipment, and standard office equipment 100% of the time. Ability to walk and/or stand on uneven terrain as well as up/down/across slopes 100% of the time.
