Job Description
Jacobs is seeking a highly experienced Senior Pipe Stress Engineer to support our growing Life Sciences and Biopharmaceutical portfolio at one of our Life Sciences North America Jacobs office location. This role will serve as a technical authority in piping and tubing stress analysis, providing leadership on complex projects while mentoring and developing junior engineers. The position offers flexibility to work hybrid. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep technical expertise in ASME piping codes, hands-on biopharmaceutical project experience, and a passion for technical excellence and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and perform pipe and tube stress analysis for complex Life Sciences and biopharmaceutical facilities.
- Apply expert-level knowledge of:
ASME B31.3
- Process PipingASME B31.1
- Power Piping- ASME Biopharmaceutical (BPE) Code
- Execute and review stress analyses for both piping and tubing systems, including:
- Thermal expansion and contraction
- Sustained, operating, and occasional load cases
- Equipment nozzle load evaluations
- Support and restraint design recommendations
- Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for stress deliverables across multiple projects.
- Mentor, guide, and technically supervise junior and mid-level pipe stress engineers.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with international engineering teams across multiple time zones.
- Interface with project managers, piping designers, structural engineers, and clients to resolve technical challenges.
- Support development of project standards, best practices, and stress analysis workflows.
- Participate in project planning, staffing, and technical risk mitigation for major Life Sciences projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent engineering degree will be considered).
- 8+ years of professional experience in pipe stress engineering.
- Extensive experience with biopharmaceutical and Life Sciences piping systems.
- Strong working knowledge of
ASME B31.3, ASME
B31.1, andASME BPE.
- Proven experience performing both pipe stress and tube stress analysis.
- Proficiency with industry-standard pipe stress software (e.
PIPE, CAESAR
II, ROHR2, or equivalent).- Demonstrated ability to lead technical efforts and mentor engineers.
- Experience supporting equipment vendors and resolving nozzle load or vibration concerns. Ideally you'll also have:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in one or more U.S. states preferred
- Willingness and ability to obtain additional state licensure.
- Experience serving as a technical lead or discipline lead on large capital projects.
- Prior experience working with global engineering teams.
- Familiarity with GMP environments and regulated Life Sciences facilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
