Overview A nationally ranked, employee-owned engineering firm is expanding into the Columbus market and seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to help establish and grow its regional presence. With over a century of engineering expertise and a strong presence across multiple offices nationwide, this organisation delivers complex infrastructure solutions across transportation, water, utilities, and public sector programmes. A significant portion of its work comes from long-standing client relationships, creating a stable and high-demand project pipeline. Known for its hands-on technical leadership, this firm places senior engineers at the centre of project delivery combining design expertise with client engagement and strategic input. This is a role where you will have real ownership, influence project outcomes, and contribute directly to the growth of a regional operation. This position is ideal for a technically advanced geotechnical engineer who enjoys staying involved in design while building relationships, mentoring engineers, and helping shape local strategy as the operation grows. Key Responsibilities Lead and deliver complex geotechnical engineering projects from pursuit through construction Serve as a senior technical authority, providing design leadership, reviews, and quality oversight Act as a trusted advisor to clients, strengthening existing relationships and developing new ones Drive business development through networking, proposals, and market engagement Play a central role in establishing and growing a new Columbus-area operation Mentor, coach, and develop junior and mid-level engineers Provide technical guidance across investigations, analysis, and geotechnical design Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and risk Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated project delivery Represent the firm within the local engineering and construction community Skills & Experience Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) Advanced geotechnical engineering and design expertise Proven success managing and delivering complex geotechnical projects Strong experience in foundations, slope stability, earthworks, and infrastructure Experience working on dams, levees, bridges, or major public-sector projects Strong client-facing presence with the ability to build trusted relationships Demonstrated ability to win work and contribute to business growth Experience mentoring and developing engineering staff Prior involvement in growing or supporting a regional or business unit is highly desirable Entrepreneurial mindset with strong commercial awareness Compensation & Rewards Competitive salary with performance-based incentives Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision 401(k) with company contribution options Bonus structure aligned with project and business performance Company-supported professional development and career growth Long-term career environment with clear progression pathways Why This Opportunity This role offers a unique blend of technical leadership, client influence, and business-building responsibility.
