NWEG provides foundation design, geotechnical engineering, and consulting services in Oregon and Washington. Licensed candidates should be licensed in Oregon and/or Washington. In the lack of a license in these states, the candidate must be open to attaining one. The candidate should be eligible to obtain their license within 3 months. NWEG will give special consideration to qualified candidates with a background in foundation design. We are willing to train the right candidate who is willing and eager to learn about different foundation systems and soil investigations. A relocation package is available.
Position Description:
The structural engineer will provide engineering services that may include performing and/or leading field inspections, testing, engineering analysis, calculations, design of deep foundation systems, including plans and specifications, and the preparation, writing, and review of related reports. Apply sound engineering principles to all work. Strong written and spoken communication skills are required for this position, and the engineer must be able to communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to both technical and non-technical clients. The engineer should be capable of mentoring a team of young professionals. Job Responsibilities:
Analysis and design of deep foundations for residential and commercial structures, creating (or assisting others to create) documentation that includes letters, drawings, calculations, and specifications, utilizing concrete, steel, and wood design skills, for both new and existing buildings. Analysis of soil data from field investigations Mastering the use of geotechnical equipment Furnish structural inspection reports based on visual inspections of buildings Coordinate with clients, engineers, and contractors Review construction drawings and provide clarifications to RFIs, Addendums, etc., to ensure the successful completion of projects Make design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications Interacts with the client and project team in developing the scope of services and communicating project progress Ability to provide technical presentations Proficiency in using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Engineering software, etc. Education/Experience Requirements:
B.S. degree in Civil Engineering Oregon and/or Washington P.E. License, or eligible within 3 months Knowledge of building and design codes Sound technical drawing skills, preferably in AutoCAD Full-time in-house office hours; Eugene, Oregon Ability to travel, including overnight stays up to 10% of the time Physical ability to inspect crawlspaces and walk on sloped ground Benefits & Compensation:
