Job Title:
Construction Project Engineer Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Construction Project Engineer to manage and oversee various construction projects. This role involves initiating and tracking Requests for Information (RFIs), managing Changes in Contract (CICs) and subcontractor change orders, and maintaining project documentation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and constructability of contract drawings, performing material quantity takeoffs, and providing technical assistance to the project team. This position also includes project scheduling support and assistance in delivering high-quality finished products. Responsibilities Initiate, manage, and track Requests for Information (RFIs) from creation through resolution. Prepare, maintain, and monitor Changes in Contract (CICs) and subcontractor change orders. Organize, track, and maintain product submittals, samples, and approval logs. Maintain and update as-built drawings to reflect field conditions and changes. Create, organize, and maintain job-specific project files and document control systems. Review contract drawings, plans, and specifications for accuracy, constructability, and conflicts. Identify errors, omissions, or discrepancies in contract documents and assist in resolution. Perform material quantity takeoffs to support procurement, pricing, and planning. Provide layout support and overall technical assistance to the project team. Assist with project scheduling and updates as needed. Provide general support to Superintendents and Project Managers to facilitate daily jobsite operations. Develop, organize, and maintain project closeout documentation, including warranties and as-builts. Support the project team in delivering a safe, compliant, and high-quality finished product. Perform additional duties as assigned to support project success. Essential Skills Experience in construction management, commercial construction, and project coordination. Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings. Skilled in using MS Project and construction software such as Bluebeam, Viewpoint, and/or Autodesk. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities. Working knowledge of wood frame and commercial construction across all disciplines and phases. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, or related field preferred. Experience with ground-up construction and change order processes. Flexible and reliable with strong organizational skills. Ability to climb ladders and stairs and safely navigate multi-terrain, active jobsites. Work Environment This position is onsite at projects throughout the Portland area. The role follows a career progression from Project Engineer to Assistant Superintendent, with further advancement opportunities. The work environment is fast-paced, requiring flexibility and reliability. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $52.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
