Job Description

Swanson-Erie Corporation , since 1919, a leader in advanced machine design and build, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for its Erie operation.
Responsibilities:
Lead all technical aspects of machine design projects, including automatic multi-station machinery, custom tooling, integrated automation components, robotics and instrumentation. Guide the projects from design conception through complete build, validation and documentation. Create designs, drawings and bills of materials for build specification. Serve as primary technical point of contact for internal and external communications. Coordinate with designers and vendors as necessary to complete successful machine designs. Coordinate with the production department to guide purchases and manufacturing processes to furnish all components required for the construction of the machines. Work with mechanical, electrical and controls personnel to complete the construction and development of the machines. Provide concepts and estimates to sales department. Support project management as required.
Essential Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to represent the company in a professional manner. High mechanical aptitude and knowledge; inclined toward electro-mechanical devices; excellent problem solving and time management skills. Self-motivated, highly organized and able to learn and adapt as required. Proficient in 3D solid modeling (SolidWorks and/or NX), 2D (AutoCAD preferred), and MS Office Suite. Proficient in drafting practices required for the manufacture of machine parts, in English and metric units and including GD&T. Practical knowledge of machine shop practices. Knowledgeable in commercially available automation components and devices used in machine equipment automation. Basic working knowledge of FEA is a plus.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology. 10-15 years of experience in machine design & build including automation equipment. Specific experience in the design & build of automatic assembly machines is highly desirable.
