Job Title:
Civil Engineer Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled, innovative, and experienced Civil Engineer to join our team, focusing on critical infrastructure projects. This role is central to designing falsework (overhangs) for bridges, primarily for PennDOT heavy highway projects. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of delivering precise and compliant engineering solutions, demonstrating exceptional proficiency in creating detailed designs using AutoCAD and performing complex, rigorous engineering calculations in MathCAD. We are looking for a professional who not only ensures all designs strictly adhere to demanding PennDOT and AASHTO standards and guidelines but also brings a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to engineering excellence, and the ability to mentor and develop team members in key areas. This position is essential for ensuring the safety and structural integrity of our designs and requires a current Pennsylvania Professional Engineer (PE) license, with the responsibility of stamping engineering drawings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and produce detailed falsework designs for bridge construction projects using AutoCAD, ensuring accuracy and constructability. Perform comprehensive structural calculations using MathCAD to verify the integrity and safety of falsework designs. Provide estimates and/or material takeoffs for construction materials on projects in the pre-bid or construction phase. Train and mentor other team members on best practices for construction material estimating and takeoffs. Ensure all designs fully comply with PennDOT specifications, regulations, and design manuals, as well as AASHTO Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) standards. Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and clients to understand project requirements and provide engineering solutions. Review and stamp engineering drawings as a licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania.
REQUIRED
Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including design files, calculations, and correspondence. Provide technical support and expertise to internal teams and external stakeholders. Stay current with industry best practices, new technologies, and changes in PennDOT and AASHTO standards. Assist in the development of junior engineering staff, if applicable.

Proficient in AutoCAD and MathCAD, with a strong understanding of structural analysis and design principles.
Estimating & Takeoff Skills:
Ability to accurately estimate and perform material takeoffs for construction projects.
Mentorship & Training:
Demonstrated ability to effectively train and guide others in technical processes and best practices.
Regulatory Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of PennDOT design standards and guidelines, and
AASHTO LRFD
specifications.

Ability to analyze complex engineering challenges and develop innovative and practical solutions. Attention to

Meticulous in design and calculation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Communication:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to clearly articulate technical information to diverse audiences.

Ability to work effectively within a team environment and with external partners.
Time Management:
Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.

General Manager Hours:
Full-time, Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30
PM Degree:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field.
Certifications/Experience:
Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Pennsylvania required, with a minimum of five (5) years of post-baccalaureate experience in structural engineering, preferably with a focus on bridge falsework or heavy highway construction.
