Job Description

Job Summary Our client is seeking an Engineer to join their Distribution Operating System team supporting gas distribution operations and construction procedures! This position is based in San Diego, California, with a hybrid schedule requiring onsite work Monday through Thursday and remote work on Fridays. The role focuses on developing and documenting gas handling and construction procedures, supporting pipeline operations, and collaborating closely with engineering and field teams. Core Responsibilities Develop detailed step-by-step gas handling and construction procedures for pipeline operations and projects Create line drawings, diagrams, and supporting engineering documentation using AutoCAD Support gas distribution operating procedures involving high-pressure and medium-pressure gas main systems Collaborate with Field Construction, Technical Engineering, and Design teams to gather operational feedback and improve procedures Document pipeline operational workflows, pressure systems, valve operations, and control point activities Review and organize engineering process steps while ensuring procedural accuracy and compliance Support engineering projects related to utility pipeline systems and infrastructure operations Interpret engineering requirements and apply standard engineering principles within operational environments Assist with process improvements, documentation updates, and operational efficiency initiatives Participate in occasional field exposure opportunities to better understand execution and construction activities Maintain strong attention to detail while managing repetitive but project-specific engineering tasks Work closely with supervisors and senior engineers within a collaborative utility engineering environment Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves) 2+ years of engineering experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Civil Engineering or petrochemical engineering backgrounds may also be considered Experience with pipeline systems, piping networks, or utility infrastructure preferred Experience with AutoCAD strongly preferred Understanding of pressure systems, fluid systems, or pipeline operations Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to collaborate effectively with field personnel, engineering teams, and construction groups Strong attention to detail and procedural documentation skills Ability to work independently while learning quickly within operational engineering environments Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and collaborative work environments Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves) Natural gas utility experience Experience with petroleum, water, sewer, or fire suppression pipeline systems Exposure to pressure regulation or gas metering systems EIT certification or actively pursuing EIT status Experience developing engineering procedures or operational documentation Field engineering or construction support exposure Experience working within utility or energy industry environments Understanding of operational engineering workflows and safety-driven processes Key Competencies & Behaviors Engineering Documentation & Procedures Pipeline & Utility Operations AutoCAD & Technical Drawings Process Improvement & Operational Support Attention to

PM Compensation & Benefits Pay Range:
The approximate pay range for this position is between $33.00 and $48.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
