Duties:
Oversee the planning and execution of subsurface investigation and the laboratory testing program for site characterization of utility-scale wind and solar project under specific work instructions as provided by a senior engineer. This includes scheduling fieldwork, calling in underground utilities, and interacting with drilling contractors, field engineers and vendors. Perform fieldwork for geotechnical subsurface investigation including overseeing geotechnical drilling and sampling operations, visual field reconnaissance, and soil and rock logging. Additionally, geophysical surveys will consist of performing seismic surveys, earth electrical resistivity surveys, and other appropriate surveys as directed by a project geophysicist. Perform bearing capacity and settlement calculations for shallow and deep foundation systems. Perform slope stability analysis, earthwork calculations, and prepare recommendations for design and construction of low traffic access roads. Assist in preparation and submittal of calculation packages, geotechnical report and design memoranda, prepare design specifications, and perform research for new concepts and technologies. Observe and document geotechnical construction activities through regular on-site inspections of earth-related construction phases for renewable energy projects. Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Revit for field sketches and reporting. Perform other geotechnical activities as required. No hire/fire authority.
