SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
The Principal Pipe Stress/Mechanical Engineer conducts pipe stress analysis and provides mechanical engineering expertise for piping systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety requirements. This role requires advanced technical skills in pipe stress analysis, proficiency in relevant software tools, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ARE ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO
): Perform pipe stress analysis and mechanical engineering calculations for natural gas piping systems, ensuring compliance with industry codes, standards, and safety requirements. Working knowledge in mechanical equipment specifications and drawings with sufficient detail as needed to evaluate associated piping systems. Perform static and dynamic analysis of piping systems using software tools such as Caesar II or similar. Perform pipe wall thickness calculations. Provide engineering oversight and approve piping specifications when required. Serve as a technical mentor and subject matter expert in pipe stress analysis, providing training, guidance, and oversight to engineering staff while promoting consistent application of industry codes, standards, and best practices. Interfaces with project management, engineering, design, fabrication, construction, and clients on a regular basis to provide engineering support, resolve pipe stress-related issues, and ensure the integrity and reliability of piping systems. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations. Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to pipe stress and mechanical engineering in the natural gas sector. Other duties assigned to meet the needs of the business.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and redline Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams and Piping Isometrics. Strong knowledge base of piping components and design criteria. In-depth knowledge of pipe stress analysis principles, codes, and standards (e.g., ASME
B31.3, API
579, etc.). Knowledge of safety standards, regulations, and best practices in pipe stress and mechanical engineering. Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience in analyzing and communicating technical results. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Critical thinking with excellent problem-solving skills. Advanced knowledge for finding creative solutions to complex problems. Experience in the review and preparation of work scope requirements for proposals. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish work goals. Ability to work independently or delegate to a team to ensure daily activities are completed according to work schedule. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency. Familiarity with 3D drafting software and piping components. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field required; PE license preferred. Minimum of 15+ years of experience as a Pipe Stress/Mechanical Engineer in the natural gas industry, with a focus on pipe stress analysis and design. Lead positions preferred. Experience with pipe stress analysis software and tools, including proficiency in Caesar II or similar software. CAD experience a plus.
WORK CONTEXT
This is a Hybrid Position requiring half or more of the work to be completed at Jasper's Corporate Office in Whitehouse, TX. Some occasional visits to Jasper's office in Tulsa, OK, fabrication facilities or client locations may be required as needed. At those locations, the candidate must be able to work in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and other particles.
