Job Title:
Project Civil Engineer Job Description The Project Civil Engineer will lead and coordinate the planning, design, and permitting of land development and infrastructure projects across a variety of market sectors. This role combines hands-on technical design with project management, client engagement, and team leadership. You will mentor junior staff, drive technical excellence, and help build a growing site civil team within a collaborative, multi‑disciplinary environment that delivers high-impact projects in healthcare, higher education, distribution, K-12, commercial, office, retail, mixed-use, and more. Responsibilities Lead and manage the planning, design, and permitting of site and civil land development projects from initial concept through construction documentation. Coordinate and produce civil design deliverables, including site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, and erosion control plans. Perform and oversee stormwater design and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling using appropriate hydraulic analysis software. Develop site plans and civil drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, ensuring accuracy, constructability, and adherence to project standards. Ensure civil designs comply with applicable local, city, county, and state land use regulations and permitting requirements. Serve as a key point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships and helping to generate new business opportunities. Manage project scope, schedule, and budget while coordinating with internal multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders. Prepare technical reports, design narratives, and high-quality proposal materials that clearly communicate engineering solutions. Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and technical excellence. Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, MEP teams, and other disciplines on integrated project delivery. Participate in and sometimes lead meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and project partners to present and discuss civil design solutions. Conduct and attend site visits and client meetings, using sound analytical and decision-making abilities to resolve field issues. Contribute to the growth of the site civil team by sharing best practices, supporting internal training, and helping shape standards and processes. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Minimum 6 years of site/civil land development experience in a civil engineer or civil design role. Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within 1 year of hire. Strong technical background in site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, and erosion control. Expertise in stormwater design and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling using hydraulic analysis software. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for civil design, drafting, and site plan development. Demonstrated success managing projects from concept through construction documentation. Proven ability to develop and manage client relationships and support business development efforts. Leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and motivating engineering and design teams. Ability to collaborate effectively on multi-disciplinary projects with diverse technical teams. Skilled in technical and proposal writing, with excellent verbal and written communication. Strong interpersonal skills for working with clients, colleagues, and regulatory agencies. Detail-oriented approach with sound analytical and decision-making abilities. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license to support site visits and client meetings. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with local, city, county, and state land use regulations related to land development and permitting. Project experience in one or more of the following sectors: healthcare, higher education, distribution, K-12, commercial, office, retail, or mixed-use. Experience with project management responsibilities, including coordinating schedules, budgets, and multi-disciplinary teams. Exposure to data center or similar technically complex site development projects. Experience preparing drainage reports, stormwater management documents, and other supporting technical documentation. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment with a strong sense of ownership, drive, and ambition. Interest in mentoring and leading civil design teams as the site civil group continues to grow. Work Environment You will work within a well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering firm that has been in operation for more than 50 years and maintains over 40 office locations. The role follows a hybrid work model with a 3/2 schedule that blends in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. You will collaborate daily with a broad range of professionals, including principals, senior project managers, and licensed engineers, with opportunities to study under experienced PE-level leaders. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Bellevue, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $133000.00/yr.
