Responsibilities Execute and enforce safety standards, processes, and procedures ensuring the project site is kept clean and organized. Conduct weekly safety inspections and monthly safety audits. Enforce quality standards, processes, and procedures; conduct quality control audits. Support the preconstruction efforts in regard to estimating, takeoff, cost, and duration of the project. Assist in the negotiated and hard bid estimate process, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the plan specs to propose value engineering solutions. Analyze subcontractor bids, assist in selection and execution of subcontracts. Assist in the preparation of bid proposals for submission to the owner. Prepare permit applications and obtain all necessary permits and licenses. Coordinate material and equipment procurement and expediting. Determine construction requirements and procedures and maintain proper project documentation. Generate and maintain RFI process and responses, submittal logs, change orders, and meeting minutes. Follow and promote established project standards, processes, and procedures. Anticipate and identify project issues and risks, proactively working with the project team to present solutions and solve problems. Direct, coordinate, and monitor the activities of subcontractors on-site to ensure specifications are met. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in engineering (Civil, Architectural, or Construction), construction management, or a related field required. Demonstrated knowledge of required safety standards and procedures. 1+ years' experience in construction, mission critical preferred. Proficiency with computer applications including Procore, P6, Microsoft Office suite, and SharePoint. Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring work authorization sponsorship. Additional Skills & Qualifications Passion for the industry, self-motivated, strong work ethic, good time management, organized, creativity, and excellent communication skills. Prior conceptual estimating and bidding experience with an emphasis on commercial construction is preferred. Experience being a project engineer on data center, mission critical, or high-tech projects is highly valued. Work Environment The Project Engineer's work is performed in a main office or field office at the construction site as well as outdoors in various weather conditions with exposure to health or safety hazards, including noise levels ranging from moderate to loud. Physical effort is required, including handling objects up to 50 pounds and standing, walking, sitting, viewing a computer screen, talking, and hearing. The construction site will change or vary, and the position may require travel. The role requires the proven ability to work with a high level of autonomy in decision-making that impacts company results. Locations include a Scottsdale office and a Mesa project site. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Scottsdale, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
