About the Role My client is a highly regarded, nationally recognised engineering and environmental consultancy with a broad footprint across the United States and a growing international presence. With a reputation for technical excellence, collaborative delivery, and a people focused culture, the organisation provides engineers with the opportunity to work on complex, high impact projects while advancing both technical and leadership skills. They are currently seeking a Project Geotechnical Engineer to join their Chicago-based team. This position is ideal for an experienced geotechnical professional looking to combine technical expertise with project coordination and field involvement, contributing to a diverse range of development and infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Carry out advanced geotechnical analyses and design of deep foundation elements and underpinning systems, as well as perform specialised engineering inspections Develop and manage technical documentation, including proposals, reports, construction drawings, and project-related correspondence Oversee field investigations along with standard earthwork and foundation construction activities Manage multiple assignments concurrently, ensuring delivery within established budgets, timelines, and project requirements Plan and organise project tasks, including the preparation and management of project budgets Produce progress updates, prepare change order documentation, and support invoicing and billing processes Undertake additional duties as required to support project delivery Requirements / Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master's degree with a geotechnical focus preferred) Professional Engineer (PE) licence required Minimum of 6 years experience in geotechnical engineering At least 3 years of field-based experience in geotechnical investigations and construction observation Experience with earthworks, deep foundation systems, subgrade preparation, ground improvement, and excavation support methods (including tiebacks) Demonstrated experience preparing technical reports, specifications, and construction documentation Proven ability to manage projects, budgets, and client relationships Familiarity with geotechnical analysis software and tools Working knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to team development Comfortable working independently as well as within multidisciplinary teams Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites when required Why Join My Client?
