Job Description

Join the MEPPI Team! Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to perform civil engineering functions during the proposal, design, and construction stages of substation projects. This position will report to the Substation Division Engineering & Drafting Section Manager and is a hybrid position in Warrendale, PA.
What You'll Do:
Perform all aspects of substation civil design including permitting support, site layout, grading design, storm water analysis, survey coordination, and civil construction inspection. Create and review preliminary foundation designs and perform risk evaluations of alternative foundation solutions using available information. Identify and report on the expected risks and costs associated with proposed and alternative solutions. Provide preliminary designs and cost estimates for project bids. Develop civil construction specifications, engineering proposals, and project schedules. Apply engineering application software to design foundations, structures, site grading, drainage, and site surveys in line with customer specifications, industry and government standards. Oversee, review, and interpret testing of soil, concrete, and other materials to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations and structures. Coordinate surveying operations to establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction. Review and interpret survey results. Collaborate with the design and project teams (project engineers, project managers, system engineers, drafters, schedulers, purchasers) and provide expertise and support on civil and structural matters. Lead drafters in the preparation of civil and structural drawings and documents in support of orders and bids. Attend meetings with customers and vendors to support proposed civil designs and answer technical questions related to them. Visit project sites to provide civil engineering support and to identify and resolve problems.
What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of civil design experience, or equivalent education and experience. Professional Engineering license (PE) in one or more states and the ability to readily obtain licensure in additional states as required. Intermediate knowledge of foundation and structure materials testing. Ability to read, understand, and create technical drawings and material. Advanced analytical and problem solving skills. Advanced interpersonal and communication skills required to communicate with customers, employees, and suppliers. Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MSOffice products, CAD and engineering analysis software. What's in It for
